The Touriga Nacional grape variety is a very interesting variety in the Douro region. It is a very fresh grape variety and brings youthfulness to this very hot region. Touriga Nacional, in addition to providing freshness, has a distinct aromatic component, where violet aromas stand out. Touriga Nacional from Quinta do Crasto also has a slight mentholated note that further reinforces this natural freshness of the variety.

Touriga Nacional is a variety very well adapted to the Douro and finds its balance preferably at high and medium altitudes, away from the heat of lower altitudes. Quinta do Crasto has two vineyard plots at an average height of 300 meters, which is where it considers this variety to be best located, and with different exposures (east, south, west and north). In nascent exhibitions, the variety has a very balanced behavior in most years. In more western and southern exposures, the variety may suffer a little in warmer years. In more northern exposures, the variety behaves very well in very hot years, but may encounter more difficulties with phenolic maturation in cooler years. With these different plots, and combining the climatic characteristics of each year in particular, the winemaking team manages to find a perfect balance in the production of Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional.

Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels that use light, specifically developed levels of toasting to bring out the freshness and characteristic aromas of Touriga Nacional. It is essential that during aging the wood does not overpower the natural characteristics of the variety. Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional is a very appealing wine from the beginning, with very expressive primary aromas. As it evolves in the bottle, it gains a lot of complexity, but always keeps this characteristic of the grape variety present.

Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional is a wine with a bright and concentrated color. Intense aroma of ripe fruit, with notes of good wood. Great presence in the mouth, soft and round, everything very well tuned. Long and spicy finish. Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional 2017 has a deep violet color, with an extraordinary aromatic freshness on the nose, where the seductive aromas of violet and Douro wild fruits stand out. In the mouth, it is very elegant, evolving into a wine of excellent volume and solid structure, composed of fresh tannins with a fine texture. A captivating wine that finishes in perfect balance, with pleasant sensations of freshness and very persistent.

Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional wine was only produced in the years 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
